about
“Place in the Sun” originally appeared on the CD “Moonraker” (2003).
A year later I was commissioned to write a score for a friend’s film called “Real Funny” and I decided to give the guitar-driven romp the full-on, mid-naughts, vocoder dance remix treatment for the sleazy nightclub scene in the film.
I certainly had a blast working on this and I owe a lot to Balthazar who twisted the knobs to get this to sound great.
The song is about two scientists who fall in love while on a mission in space (to find a suitable planet to colonize as a result of the Earth becoming inhabitable- think “Silent Running” (1972)) only to discover that their ship is on a direct trajectory for the Sun!! ah, young love.
